Non Urgent Police Contact Number

Devon and Cornwall Police have introduced some time-saving and convenient options for contacting them for non-urgent matters. At times of high demand, which can vary day-to-day, our non-urgent call handlers are diverted onto the 999 lines.

This can cause the 101 call-waiting time to increase. Demand also increases by around 35% in the summer months.
Devon & Cornwall Police - Why call when you don't have to?
We know many people today carry out lots of activities online that were previously done on the phone. Devon and Cornwall Police recognise some people don’t necessarily need to speak to someone. These new additional services are with those people in mind. This will also have the added benefit of freeing-up some capacity in the 101 number for those who don’t have internet access or who do need to speak to someone.
Devon and Cornwall ALERT is an online two way community messaging system operated by Devon & Cornwall Police. The system helps us to connect with our communities; it tells people what is happening in their area and allows them to respond directly with any information.
Picture
The system is designed to allow people who register to choose the type of information they would like to receive concerning crime and anti-social behaviour, witness appeals, crime prevention, community events and local good news.

Subscribers will not be notified about every crime or incident that happens in their community. Our aim is to send relevant information where we believe to do so will reduce the opportunity for crime and anti-social behaviour or will help Devon & Cornwall Police solve a crime.

If you wish to find out more information and/or register with Devon and Cornwall ALERT go to: www.dcalert.co.uk

Offwell Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators will continue to receive ‘alerts’ and when appropriate these messages will be posted on the Parish Council noticeboard.  Individual messages will no longer be posted on the website.

Police & Crime Commissioner

Alison Hernandez Police and Crime Commissioner
Alison Hernandez is the elected Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

On the www.devonandcornwall-pcc.gov.uk website she writes:

“It is a privilege to serve the people of Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as your police and crime commissioner. I will do all I can to ensure you have the best police service in the country and to keep you safe.I will continue to listen to your views on what does and doesn’t work well with policing in your communities. The Police and Crime Plan, which has been co-produced with the Chief Constable, sets out the strategic priorities for policing in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for 2017-2020. It is the result of the biggest consultation into police issues ever held in Devon and Cornwall. My aim is to have excellent policing, co-ordinated wider public services and resilient self-supporting communities. In that way we can all play our part in keeping each other safe.Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are fantastic places – my goal is to ensure that we are all able to play our part in ensuring that the peninsula remains the envy of the rest of the country.”
