Local Road Traffic Closures
The Parish Council has been advised that the A35 will be closed on the 26th June 2022 to 30th June 2022, 24 hours a day.
As part of the South West Highways Connect strategy for maintaining the A30/A35, it is necessary to carry out some ground stabilisation works on the A35 between Springfield Corner and Devils Elbow, Honiton.
The work will be carried out under a full road closure with effect from 26th June 2022 to 30th June 2022, 24 hours a day.
During this time, traffic travelling west along the A35 from the Axminster direction
will be diverted at the Taunton Cross junction, onto the 7 mile straight road running past Dalwood and Stockland on to Stockland Hill, to join the A303/A30 towards Honiton. Traffic travelling east along the A35 from Honiton will be diverted in the opposite direction.
To clarify the matter, Taunton Cross is the junction on the A35 where you turn off for either Dalwood or Shute.
Access to Offwell and Wilmington from the Axminster direction will be granted at all times from Taunton Cross. Any traffic intending to go to Offwell and Wilmington will be allowed to continue on the A35 to their villages.
As regards anyone from Offwell wishing to go to Honiton during the road closure period, please go to Tower Cross, then turn left along Tower Road to the Golf Club and then turn right to go down the hill into Honiton. Return journeys can be made following the reverse route.
